I went to Australia 2 years ago on a working visa, but never actually did any work whilst I was there, I just used my savings. I want to go back again but actually work this time. I did an online assessment to see if I was eligible and apparently I cant go back on a working visa because I didnt work last time... So does this mean I cant go back there and work my way around just because I didnt work last time :(

  1. If you're talking about having been here on a working holiday visa and you didn't work for 3 months doing seasonal work in a regional area, you have no chance of getting a second visa.

Working holiday visas are only for 12 months. As a special consideration for applicants from the UK and a few other countries, if you fulfill certain strict conditions during your first visa, you can get a second visa. If you didn't meet the special conditions (of which you would/should have been aware), you can't reasonably expect to receive the special consideration. Even if you had worked, if the work wasn't seasonal work for a primary producer in a regional area, you wouldn't be eligible.

  2. I watched that programme on the border control in Oz. An Irish bloke tried to say he never had a working visa before, but they found out that he had. He was sent back to Ireland.

He had a visa before but his girlfriend at the time didn't like Oz so they spent a week or so in Oz before going to New Zealand for a month before going home. Even if you didn't work they won't issue you another one, as that bloke hadn't worked either.

You could get sponsored by a company to work out there, or do you have a relative who could sponsor you?

  3. sorry  to qualify for a 2nd working holiday visa you should have done  3 months seasonal work while on your first visa, as you didnt you do not qualify for a 2nd visa

    You must:

have completed three months of specified work in regional Australia* while on your first Working Holiday visa (there is no requirement to do further specified work on the second visa)

be aged between 18 and 30 years (inclusive) at the time of applying**

be applying no more than 12 months before you intend to travel to Australia, if applying from outside Australia

not have any accompanying dependant children

be outside Australia when the visa is granted, if applying from outside Australia

be in Australia when the visa is granted, if applying from in Australia

hold a passport for a country or region participating with Australia in the Working Holiday program.
