I am from the US and am looking into applying to UK universities. Should I be able to just apply straight to a UK university, or do I need to take a certain standardized test?

  1. In order to qualify to apply to a decent UK university, you need more than a standard US high school diploma. You need the equivalent to at least 3 A levels - so in the US, you'd want to take at least 3 AP exams, which the UK unis will accept instead of A levels. For the better UK unis, you'll want to score a 4 or higher on those AP exams.

And depending on what course you plan to take in the UK - what major, in other words - you may need to take specific AP exams. Check the websites for Birmingham and Nottingham Trent, and they likely will tell you which A levels you need to apply to journalism or communications. If they list specific A levels needed, then those are the AP exams you need to make sure you take.

To apply to UK unis, you go through a central applications site called UCAS:

    http://www.ucas.ac.uk/

There is no SAT exam or equivalent standardized test needed by UK unis. However, some UK unis will want the SAT from American applicants. Again, the uni's website will detail all this. Check their pages regarding international admissions to learn exactly what they need of you.

  2. I would suggest a study abroad program that is offered by a United States school. There are certain universities there that are international and welcome all students:

    http://www.richmond.ac.uk/

if this is not what you're after. Otherwise, there is a lot (A LOT) of red tape because of the visas and working to support yourself and where you'll stay if you go to an all UK uni.

  3. I'll go check for you now, and then I'll edit this answer

EDIT: It depends on what course you were thinking of taking, and in which university? (if you don't know yet, then what subject?) Can you add additional details to your answer, or email me? thanks!

Also what US qualifications do you have, because our qualifications are completely different, and sometimes certain qualifications are only accepted when you also have other qualifications. Lol sorry its complicated to explain. But yea email me if you like

    anyone help with mine? thanks

  4. I was thinking maybe you can... if you have the grades.... Although I'm sure many of their universities is just like ours, require a high school diploma. Dropping out, you wont have that diploma.

If you mean you already graduated, then what ever universitiey you want to apply to... you would be applying as a international student... I would assume. Just like it is for someone from the UK coming here.
