My friends and I are meeting up in Oceanside this weekend and going to Rosarito for a night, but last night my wallet was stolen that had my photo id in it. Would just my birth certificate work if i went to the dmv and got a temporary license tomorrow? My best friend is in the same situation. We'd rather not sit in oceanside alone while everyone else is in Mexico.

  1. I would not risk it.  The problem is not getting down there, but getting back. U.S. citizens are currently exempt from the requirement to show a passport unless they are returning to the U.S. from outside the Western Hemisphere (Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia). However, it is highly recommended that you be prepared to present documentation such as valid U.S. passport, U.S. birth certificate, or naturalization certificate to avoid delays.

  2. do you have a passport?! that would work.

  3. Sure why not!?!?! But can you come back?!?!?!
