Ok so I just took a certified PH.D IQ test on the net that cost about 10.00$. When I was done with the test it said I had an I.Q. of 92. Now when I took this test I had just woken up after 4 hours of sleep and kinda felt mentally sluggish. Also, I never did well in school because of me just not caring and I am on abilify and trileptal which can make you mentally sluggish. My question is this I guess, can I go to college with an IQ of 92 or am I just to stupid? I was reading an article on the internet that had a statician with an IQ of 185 basically say that people with an IQ between 92-108 are not university material. I really want to attend college and better my life by doing so, but now I feel very discouraged.

  1. Well, I'm 11 and my IQ is 119... Just go to community college or ask to retake the IQ test

  2. NO

  3. Um why would you pay to take a test while you were 'mentally sluggish'?? And there are a bunch of free IQ tests online- anyway unless you forward these results to the college they will most likely not care or know about this test- they most likely wouldn't care even if you forwarded it.  If you haven't been to college before you will most likely be going to community college for a general education-- you may have to test to see what english and math level you are at but unless you have an Associate's degree from a 2-year institution (college) it doesn't matter what your IQ may be- you're not university material until your 'core courses' are completed. Universities are generally referred to as 4-year institutions because most 'average' people have a 2-year degree before attending to obtain a Bachelor degree-- if you want to attend a university you will most likely want an Associate degree in General Transfer so that the 'main floor courses' (math, english, science...) are taken care of.

Don't be discouraged about gaining an education by anyone- and never forget that for every jackass with an opinion like this there are thousands of people who have proven them wrong... there is ALWAYS two sides to any statement, especially online.

Further universities are interested more in your current GPA- make sure you are giving each class your all, get to know your professors- they have much more information to share than what they teach the class- they are also a great source for references and resources when you are ready to apply to a university- oh and even if your IQ is 92, attending college will only increase your knowledge thereby increasing your IQ score!

  4. I have an IQ of 164, but this is just a number and it means very little.  It's an arbitrary number, and, as you point out, The IQ test doesn't always measure it very accurately.

I teach college writing, and my experience is that students who work hard and see their teachers during office hours do well.  Those who need to, if they want to succeed, will put in more time studying and compensate if they find that they are not picking up the material as easily as their classmates.

It is entirely up to you.  If it is important to you, don't let anyone get in your way.

    Good luck.

  5. IQ tests don't measure intelligence. They measure how good you are at passing IQ tests.

    Ignore the test results.

Judging by the way you've written the question- you're not stupid- go to college. & don't be so gullible.

  6. I'm not even going to read the whole question. Listen to me carefully. IQ tests are not objective. They can be influenced by any number of things, including illness, lack of sleep, distractions, and so on.

I knew a guy in college, who had suffered a severe brain injury due to a motor vehicle accident. HE GRADUATED. I never, on meeting him on the street, would have picked him as a college graduate. But he was smarter than any test would have indicated.

As to the question, "...or am I just to stupid?"....in psychology, there is a thing called a "self fulfilling prophecy." In this, if a people tell themselves they will fail, or if they tell themselves they will win, and start believing it, they will fail or succeed, depending on the "self talk".

I guess what I'm trying to say is this. Don't let one test, and an idiot on the internet decide your future. Just because someone is a statician, and he has an article, doesn't mean that what he says is right.

Go to college. Study hard. Better your life.

    Good luck.

  7. If you knew you were going to take this test...why wouldn't you get enough rest to perform to the best of your abilities?   Maybe your just one of those people who dont perform well on test due to feeling pressure/anxiety.  My advice is go about your plans on attending college.

  8. Shoot...I have an IQ of 138 and I can't remember if the dishes in the dish washer are clean or dirty, I lose my shoes half the time, and I can't speak in public without passing out.  There are so many factors that shape your success in college other than your basic IQ, and everyone in this world has his or her strengths and weaknesses.  For example, you already have better written communication skills than the majority of people on this website.  At least your question is well-articulated.  Don't worry, just work hard and you can do it.

  9. when applying for a university they never ask about your IQ. you need to focus on your high school grades and activities and if al else fails, start off a community college and work hard.
