Can I grow a coffee bean tree in North-Eastern USA?

  1. The coffee tree is a tropical plant.  You can keep it potted outside in your region but for it to produce fruit it needs constant humidity and warmth that the Northeast just doesn't provide.  The cool Northeast will also keep the plant from growing fast.


  2. Only if you can bring it inside for the winter. It's a tropical, and will die if it's outside when the weather dips below freezing.

    Maybe grow it as a bonsai tree?  Bring it outside during the mild months, and bring it into a sunny window for the winter.  Prune to keep it small.

    It's not a huge tree to begin with, so it should be entirely possible.
