Question:

Can I have Bridesmaids in a Vegas wedding?

I am getting married in Las Vegas next year and would love to have bridesmaids in my wedding. I am expecting no more than 50 people to show, and etiquette says to have only 1 bridesmaid per 50 people...I want 4 (if I have 1, I have to have the other 3). Is it inappropriate to have that many bridesmaids? And what about groomsmen?

  1. The number of attendants is based on the formality of your wedding. I'm assuming yours is informal based on the location and number of guests. One - three attendants (bridesmaids and groomsmen)  for each the bride and the groom is acceptable. But note that you are expected to pay for 2 nights lodging for each of these attendants.

I'm happy to hear you are paying attention to etiquette. This isn;t a bunch of rules for snobs - these are suggestions put into place to make your guests comfortable. Kudos!

  2. Absolutely not inappropriate.  Have as many as you feel you need.  I personally would try to balance the groomsmen, but do what works for you.  The only limitations are the size of your venue.  Vegas doesn't have to mean quickie or cheesy.

If it's one bridesmaid per 50 guests I should have had 1/2 of a bridesmaid :)

    Congrats & best wishes.

  3. I think you should have bridemaids, if that's what you want, and four doesn't seem like too many at all. Think about it as if you are giving your closest girlfriends 'front row tickets' to witness your marriage. Really, that's what bridemaids are all about - having people stand up beside you who you know will be there throughout life, when you need them. Have a wonderful wedding, and don't pay too much attention to 'ettiquette'.

  4. Huh?  I have never heard of the 1 bridesmaid per 50 guest rule.  Where did you hear that?

In any case, YES, you most certainly can have bridesmaids/groomsmen at your Vegas wedding....how ever many you want!

    Good luck!

  5. There are no rules. It's your wedding, you can do whatever you want. 1 bridesmaid for every 50 people? What does that even mean? The bridesmaids are not there to serve your guests, they are there to support you on your wedding day. Same with the groomsmen.

    Good luck!

  6. You can have as many as you want, regardless of the number of guests and location. It's your wedding.

  7. Have as many as you want.

My wife and I got married in Vegas and each had 3 bridesmaids/groomsmen with a guest list of only 60 people.

    Good luck.

  8. I am getting married in Vegas November 15, 2008 and I don't see anything wrong with 4 bridesmaids.  This is your day and you can do whatever you want to do.  Besides these are women that mean a lot to you and having them by your side will make the day even more special.  Remember this is your special day---MAKE IT EVERYTHING YOU WANT IT TO BE!  And yes you can have 4 groomsmen as well.  It will look great and you and your future husband will be happy.

  9. You can have as many bridesmaids as you would like.  It usually is accepted that if you have a small wedding, you have a small wedding party, but if you have four women that you want to stand up with you, then ask them!
