  1. There is no such thing as a: "class 3 weapons license" there is the Special Class III FFL that a machine gun dealer has. He can transfer a machine gun/suppressor upon approval from the ATF on the Form 4. That is the form where the Chief of Police or Sheriff signs, Passport photos are attached and the $200 Tax stamp is affixed.

Sorry, but you must be 21 to have a suppressor/machine gun transferred to you. Secondly, Cali has forbidden suppressors. BUT good news Machine guns are still permitted. SEE LINK:

  2. In the state of CA you must be 21 to own or purchase a handgun.  The handgun cant hold more than 10 rounds.  As far as the silencer goes, KY state law says you have to have a class 3 weapons license.  Any class 3 eligible item you need a license for.  For each license you need a local sheriffs signature and need to explain within reason why you need that item.

  3. Yes you can, if you fall under these exceptions:

12501.  Section 12520 shall not apply to, or affect, any of the

    following:

       (a) The sale to, purchase by, or possession of silencers by

agencies listed in Section 830.1, or the military or naval forces of this state or of the United States for use in the discharge of their official duties.

       (b) The possession of silencers by regular, salaried, full-time

peace officers who are  employed by an agency listed in Section 830.1, or by the military or naval forces of this state or of the United States when on duty and when the use of silencers is authorized by the agency and is within the course and scope of their duties.

       (c) The manufacture, possession, transportation, or sale or other transfer of silencers to an entity described in subdivision (a) by dealers or manufacturers registered under Chapter 53 (commencing with Section 5801) of Title 26 of the United States Code, and the regulations issued pursuant thereto.

Since you can't be a police officer nor a Class III manufacturer or dealer at 18, that leaves the military, and then you can only have it while it is issued and signed out to you are is being used in the performance of your duties.

    Stephanie T:

Kentucky State law does NOT require you to be a Class III Federal Firearms Licensed/Special Occupational Taxed Dealer  to own a National Firearms Act firearm or instrument, it just has to be Federally Registered iaw the National Firearms Act.  Anyone who is telling you that you have to have a Class III Federal Firearms License/Special Occupational Taxed dealer,  and pay the $500 annual tax,  JUST TO OWN a Class III (NFA) firearm or  instrument  is either TOO IGNORANT for you to be listening to or is pulling your leg BIG TIME.

  4. silencers are illegal in Cali

Article 2. Unlawful Possession of Firearm

    Silencer

    12520. Possession; offense; punishment.

Any person, firm, or corporation who within this

state possesses a silencer is guilty of a felony

and upon conviction thereof shall be punished

by imprisonment in the state prison or by a fine

not to exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or

    by both.

And you would have to be 21 to own one if they weren't

You can own a .22 or 9mm if it is a rifle

  5. No

You have to be 21 to legally purchase a hand gun in California

  6. Yeah, the silencers are definately illegal in the People's Demokratik Republik of Kalifornia.

And... yes I live here in this blasted state.

You can own a longarm of any type, that includes a shotgun at your age.

Unfortunately, that does not include "Assault Rifles" as those are also illegal to own in this Republik.

There is no caliber limit on the longarm, so as long as it meets "Rifle" or "Shotgun" specs with an 18" barrel, you are good to go.

Getting a gun dealer to sell to you though is going to be a different story.  Depending on their store policy, you may still need a signature from a parent or guardian for the purchase, so just be prepared for that.

Anyhow, good shooting.  Hope to see you at the range!
