I want to upgrade to HD DVR on directv. I want to keep my current TIVO dvr but add the hd dvr plus the hd channels and game channel. Is this possible? I have a regular dish but would have to add the HD dish and run HD cables also for the HD dvr. Could i run both dvrs off same hd dish or do i need to keep both dishes? and would they charge me for 2 services or just an additional dvr box?

  1. Yes. I have that exact setup right now.  They will install a larger dish with a multiswitch. They will charge you for a second receiver $4.99 and $10 for HD but not for the second DVR. Game lounge stinks. That would be another $5.99. Game Lounge caused my receiver to freeze up several times.

  2. You will need to call a DirecTV installer. They will have to install their 5lnb antenna and you can get stardard def off this antenna just fine. It depends where you are if you will keep your old antenna or not. Some smaller cities around the country need that second antenna to get their local channels while those of us in larger markets get everything off the single 5 lnb dish.
