I have insurance policy under my father since I was single. Now I'm married and I included my fiance on the policy. We moved out of my parents house. My fiance and I just bought a new car and the car is under my fiance's name but still have the insurance under my father. The insurance co. sent a form asking for the car registration and address information. Can they terminate my policy if the address is different than my father's?

  1. It seems that everything is done in the "name of the FATHER"

Insurance has to be in the name of the owner. Since you got married it is assumed that you and your financee are majors and you can surely enter into contracts.

  2. Maybe this resources is useful for you,Have a look,it is free.Good luck for you.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ch...

  3. YES. and if you really want to save money do what I do. I have my car registered in NOME, ALASKA. 2005 expedition baby is loaded and the insurance is full coverage only $286.00 per year. In Cleveland, Ohio $645.00 every six months.

    Also, a good resource is...

    Best of luck to you.

  4. MOST PROBABLY

ABOUT TIME YOU STARTED YOUR OWN INSURANCE, LET GO OF THEM APRON STRINGS TIME I RECKON

  5. If you have Mercury Insurance you can...LOL

    Otherwise I don't think so

  6. The vehicle "owner" has to have insurance or provide financial responsibility in almost all states.  Your fathers car insurance will NOT cover a car owned by your fiance, only one owned by your father or possibly if authorized drivers are driving another car they do not own personally or from their household.

If your fiance has a loan on the car, the lender will require him to provide proof of liability and collision/comprehensive insurance, or will charge him an excessive amount to provide their own insurance.

  7. In Farmers in Texas I have many clients who are listed with their parents on their parents policy.  They only change where their bill is sent to.  As long as the vehicles registered owner is listed on the policy there should not be a problem.

For the person who said if your father doesnt own the car... what obout your mom who might own one of the cars, she is not primary so they will cancel him???  NO, again, as long as the owner is listed on the policy you should not have a problem.

  8. They're going to not insure his car on your father's policy.

The name on the policy, the registration, and the title of the vehicle must all match.  That's called "insurable interest".   Your father doesn't OWN your husband's car.  Therefore, that car can't be listed on his (your father's) policy.

If your father OWNS all the cars, then yes, you can change the garaging address for the cars YOU own, and keep it on the same policy, as long as you are listed operators.  But then your FATHER gets all the claim checks.
