Can I have internet without phone svs?

my boyfriend thinks we have to have both through embark because of some filter.  My computer still works with my fax which means my phone's not pluged in.  I am having a hard time with embark bhut I can't get cable.  I figure I can keep dish and get rid of embark and go with another internt thank you all for your answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. i dont know where you are.. but my service provider,Earthlink, provides DSL as a standalone service without phone service..  you just gotta call them up and talk to them about it.


  2. Yes. But you can't get away without the wires (cable or phone wiring) unless you live in an area with wireless access points within range. I did this last year for a while, using a DSL connection. I transferred my phone service to VOIP (Voice over IP) but I was dissatisfied with the VOIP service and quality, so I swapped back even though it cost me a dollar or two less a month. Your mileage may vary...

  4. Phone and cable companies will allow you to get internet access without phone service.  The only time you need phone service is if you use dial-up.  Often the companies will give you a discount if you have phone and internet service together.
