Question:

Can I have two female Syrian hamsters live together if I connect their cages?

I have a golden, female Syrian hamster named Hayley, and I'm thinking of getting another cage to connect to her CritterTrailz cage to make her home seem more interesting and, of course, larger and more roomy. I am also thinking of getting another female Syrian hamster, only an albino one. Does any one know if it is possible for me to have them live in separate cages at first, then, in a gradual process, have them get to know each other and eventually live together with out too much fighting? I would like only confident answers, and answers from people who are breeders, have done research, or have experience with this situation. This is a big move for me considering I've only had one hamster at a time my whole life and I really don't want to stress out or harm my precious Hayley, or the new hamster. Thanks in advance!!

  1. syrian hamsters are not meant to be together. They will fight to death. however, i have two habit trail mini cages and i use a connector tube to connect them together. i have two syrian hamster which i put in these cages. they do not fight as long as there is enough space and enough food. you can get more help by asking an expert online: http://www.pjspet.com/contact
