Can I hide mobile status, but still appear online?

When I sign out of IM on my computer, I'm automatically mobile. IM shows that I'm mobile. I can not find a checkbox that makes me appear always online or that hides the mobile status. Can someone please direct me?

  1. On yahoo messenger Just change your status message

    You can uncheck the box that tells people you are mobile. and they will only think that you are online and not mobile.
