  1. Yes you can, very straight forward.

    I refer you to the answers I have given to your other questions.

    If you're serious about home theatre, don't look at sites like Comet or Curry's, have a look at Superfi,  Richer Sounds or Creative Audio, you will get a high quality system from any of them which will beat anything Sony, Panasonic or the other major TV brands can produce. I've already recommended the Yamaha AV61 to you, that is only a starter kit which I believe has 4 audio inputs via component cables, if you go higher on the budget, you can get the ONKYO TX-SR505 which connects via HDMI and optical digital as well as component( 8+ connections), that will cost £250 plus about £500 for a very good 5.1 speaker set.

    Have a word with a proper Hi-Fi store, they'll sort you out.


  2. Yes if the sound output from the DVD player is compatible with the input of the Home theater system. Check your Player's sound output and go and hunt for a compatible system.
