Can I hook my laptop to my TV?

Question

I want to watch a DVD on our Television. I'm sure there is way, but please be aware, I really need instructions for a dummy. I read things about svideo etc. . . I just see one additional outlet on my computer. Where do I go on my laptop to verify I have tv out capability and then what?

yes if you laptop has a hdmi hook up on the side

and your tv has a hdmi cable
