It's not a DV camcorder, there is no firewire port. It was made in 1997 and uses tape. I was just wondering if there are any wires that will enable me to connect the camcorder to my computer. If not, is there anyway at all to get my video off the tape and onto my computer?

  1. You can use either a USB video capture card or a PCI one

PCI is much better and faster than USB.

Your camcorder should have some ' red, yellow and white' 'RCA' connectors on it somewhere - simply connect one end to the camcorder and the other to the capture card. If the capture card doesnt have any audio input then you will have to buy a converter 3.5mm jack for the red and white audio cables (quite cheap - only about $1) then you can plug the 3.5mm jack into the 'Line in' port on your pc sound card, then use a video capture program such as 'Ulead video studio' to capture the footage and youre done. :)

  2. you can get a tv tuner card or a usb to av lead connection, ive heard alot of complaints about the usb conection type so ive always stuck by tv capture cards, there very easy to install, just open the computer case and it will slip into a pci slot, check to see if you have a spare one of the first, they are a long white slot, which you cant put in any wrong way, then you can record from any video player or cam corder
