Does anyone have a hdtv hooked up to cable without a hdef dig box who is seeing his/her channels in hdef resolution? I was under the impression that you would have to have a hd dig box from the cable company to see hd resolution if you are receiving the signals thru the cable, not thru an antenna. Thanks!

  1. Most HDTVs include a QAM tuner that allows you to watch the "clear" (unencrypted) HD channels from Cable without a box.

You need a box or a TV with a CableCard slot to see all channels.

  2. You need an HD cable box to see HD resolution. In order to see HD you need to hook the box to your TV using HDMI or component video cables. Without an HD box and just a regular cable box you will not be looking at HD resolution. You will see a picture but it won't look very clear. Get the box, you will be happy...
