Hi, I have Time Warner Cable and my cable box has a built in dvr, but the dvd player I have doesn't record and I wanted to transfer some of my favorite shows/movies to dvds to free up space on my dvr for future recordings (I didn't realize what the size/capacity was and I ended up losing a bunch of shows when I recorded new ones on my dvr). Can I hook up my computer or laptop (both have dvd burners) to my dvr to make copies of the shows I want to keep? I heard that it's possible, but I'm technologically challenged and I don't know what I'd need to do/buy to make this work. First, is it possible? And second, how can I do it? Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it as pretty much everyone I know is at my same level in terms of understanding technology, etc... :)

  1. You would need a DVD burner in your computer and a tuner card for it.

You will not be able to record any copy protected shows like HBO, Etc.
