  1. If you can't, you can always get a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro.

  2. yeah, but dude, why the type-M? Get a G-TR R-32 that's my pref.

  3. If it is not on the list of cars meeting U.S. safety and pollution specs then to import it you will have to obtain certification from the manufacturer that it does indeed meet the U.S. specs. The car would then have to sit in customs impound until the U.S. officials determined if it did indeed meet the specs. The cost will be prohibitive and certification/approval will be extremely difficult if not impossible to obtain.

  4. I think you can do this if you want, but you will first go through a lot of red-tape to get it over here.  In addition, you will have to pay a hefty import tariff and shipping charge.

To actually drive the car in America legally you will have to go through a lot of other expenses, modifications, and even more red-tape.  It's cost for you would greatly reduce the value of the car to you, and it would take quite a bit of time.

Last I checked Motorex a performance shop that specializes in Nissans is the only licensed dealer of Skylines in North America.  They take care of the red-tape and modifications to make it street legal in America, but it usually doubles the price.

It's a sweet car, but I would rather have one in Japan where they don't have to tone it down.

  5. While I'm not certain, I knew a man who had a late 90's skyline (don't know what edition) imported. He said he had to have an inspection and he failed emissions standards. His solution was a domestic cat back exhaust (slightly modified) originally intended for the 300zx

  6. Nice car .

You can import the spec 2 R33 Due to Motorex having actual crash data the US gov said no to all Skylines after a date but evidence was evidence so they couldn't argue about the data so providing the Skyline meets US regs then its fine, although this is where it can become a pain due to having the work carried out which is needed as standard on any import then each state differs to what else needs doing to make it street legal so you best finding out what mods are needed where you live and price the work up and see whom needs to check it to get a street legal test.

Other then that your best buying a Skyline with already US papers.

The type m is a great car and has the advantage of being cheaper than a GTR and still has a turbo to mod and gain extra bhp from. Also the GTS versions of the Skylines are 5 seater's against the GTR being a 4 seater version.
