Can I install Linux on my ipod? How?

I am a huge fan of Linux, in fact all of my computers are Linux. I just heard of putting Linux on an ipod. Is this possible? If so, can you give me some great links on how to install it? Also, What can it do with Linux running on it? I still want it to play my songs. Could you please provide me with any information or experiences? I have an ipod original 20 gb.
