I have a very small kitchen. I have an electric cooker. The grill is below the hob.I've seen that the regulation is for 650mm of clearance from the hob to a hood but does this apply to combustible material such as a wooden shelf? I'm looking at putting a wooden shelf in as I can't drill into the back wall for Microwave brackets. The shelf will be supported between a cupboard on the left and the wall on the right.Ideally I wouldn't put anything above the cooker but I really need the space.
