Can I install additional speakers in the back of my 2007 HHR?

I bought a 2007 Chevy HHR...it's great but the stock 6 speaker stereo doesn't even beat the sound in my old 2001 Cavalier! What is the best way to kick my sound up a notch without getting too nuts with new amps and such. I noticed there seem to be two 8 inch circular cutouts on the sides of the the back cargo area...perhaps they use those for the premium sound option...can I take advantage of those spots to add speakers? Would upgrading the stock speakers be enough to give me the increase in loudness and clarity I am seeking or must I take additional steps?

  1. yes that is a good solution but only problem sense there is not speakers there in the first place there isn't going to be any power hooked up to what ever speakers you get. so  now you still have to get an amp. there are alot  amps that are inexpensive and work fine to power some small subs and speakers just to boost the clarity of the sound. instead of trying to blow your ears off with high class subs and speakers.

but if your just looking to make the sound better the best option is to replace the speakers. also you should add bass blockers on the front door speaker so you can get high quality highs with out bass distortion and you are left with cleaner sound.
