As many as you want.I have made some 4ft in the past  to hang air duct.

M R, there should be no problem at all connecting zip ties together to make them longer.  The only problem with this is that the weakest point of a zip tie is the connection.  If you have two connections you have two potential weak spots and that goes up with the number of zip ties you use.  If what you're zip tying is not a heavy load I wouldn't worry too much about the weakness of the connections.

Sure.  We do it all the time when we need extra length when attaching electrical cables to conveyor belts on a rock crusher and asphalt plants.
