  1. You really don't need an associates...what the Peace Corps looks for is any experience in volunteer work...though a degree  on top of volunteer hours would definitely help.  How do you want to serve the Peace Corps?  Where do you want your focus to be?  You may want to look into volunteer opportunities where you are dealing with people of various religions and cultures, as you will be traveling to various countries for your assignments.  I suggest you go to the Peace Corps website (listed below) to get the information you need.

  2. If you are 18, you can apply to join the PeaceCorps. You need to include in your application any work or volunteering experience you have had, experience you have had working with socially-excluded or at-risk groups (women re-entering the workforce, people with disabilities, youth, immigrants, seniors), experience you have working or volunteering in a low-income community or people with low-literacy skills, and examples of when you have managed or coordinated a project of any kind. You need to have references that can attest to your stable emotional state and outstanding work management abilities. You need to have a clean credit record with no debt.

Here is a web site that can help you learn more about the skills and experience desired by the PeaceCorps and other long-term placement organizations:
