Can I join waterpolo even though i sux at swimming(havent swam in a long time)?

  1. Water polo is one of the most physically demanding sports.

    Not only do you have to swim A LOT, you have to do it at different speeds, constantly changing directions, and make sure your opponents don't drown you (which they will try to do whenever the referees are not looking).


  2. Yes, because swimming is only half of water polo.

  3. In the olympics, the average H2O player swims 2 miles per game.  Amateurs swim a lot less, but its still a lot.  

    So the answer is:  Yes, swimming is vital and its hard to get around the fact that you need to be fast and have good endurance.

    When I played, I had good endurance but wasn't the best ball handler/shooter.  But I was able to outlast a bunch of people once they got tired.

  4. You better get your butt in shape in a hurry. Water Polo is extremely physically demanding. Also I hope you are a good swimmer or don't even bother trying cuz it will kill you if you're not
