Can I just add fabric softener to the beginning of the cycle and get fresh smelling clothes?

I just don't have time to go back and check when the machine is in its last cycle to add it. Does it really make a difference?

  1. yeah i always do that

your clothes will still smell good

  2. I add mine all the time at the beginning of the wash. It really does not matter. People may say that you can't do it because it will stain your clothes. This is not true as long as you have plenty of water in the machine when you do this. Don't pour it directly on your clothes or it may stain. Have you seen some of the new detergents that have fabric softner already in them? What is the difference?

  3. ~~ I would not do this. The softner added to the clothes at the wrong time can leave stains all over your clothes. It's better just to buy the little dispenser you can throw in the laundry and it releases during the rinse cycle. You can buy them at any Walmart, Target, etc.~~

  4. You can buy a Downy ball for about 2 dollars.  You DO NOT have to use ultra Downy in it.  I use a regular cheap fabric softener in mine and it works fine.  Fill it about 1/2 full and toss into your washer at the beginning of the wash cycle.  If you add straight fabric softener at the beginning it won't work as well and you will also be weakening the cleaning power of the detergent.

  5. i don't think it makes a difference i put mine inat the begining all the time and my clothes always come out smelling good
