Sorry I just get really confused when everyone says grade 7 and 8 and stuff.

In the UK you go to primary school, up until you're 11 and then go to secondary school:

Year 7 = 11 - 12 year olds

Year 8: 12 - 13

Year 9: 13 - 14

Year 10: 14 - 15

Year 11: 15 - 16

Then you go to college or sixth form, in sixth form it's

Year 12: 16 - 17

Year 13: 17 - 18

you can go straight into a job at 16 or go to sixth form or college, then after sixth form or college you can go to university.

Also can you say what you think about your s*x and alcohol age limits. I know in America you can drive at 16, that's awesome because I have to wait till 17, also in the UK they're thinking of changing the driving age to 18 because of all of the boy racers. Also can you describe what you think obout child pregnancy because on all of the forums I've seen most of the Americans say you should wait till the limit or till you marry and that 16 is too young but on BBC1 national news it said that 1 in 4 American girls have an STD, what do you think about that?

  1. It depends on what school district or state you are in, but for the most part, we have:

    Elementary School--

    Kindergarten (age 5)

    Grades 1 through 5 (ages 6-11)

Middle or Junior High School--Grades 6 through 8 (ages 11-14)

    High School--Grades 9-12 (ages 14-18)

    Freshman year is 9th grade

    Sophomore year is 10th grade

    Junior year is 11th grade

Senior year is 12th grade.  Most people graduate when they are 18 years old, but it can range  Some might graduate early, and others might graduate late, if they started kindergarten late or were held back.  18 is also the age at which you are considered a legal adult in the US, although you still are not allowed to drink legally.

After that you can choose to go on to college (what you would call "university"), which is four years for a Bachelor's Degree.  The same freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior levels are used there, although your obviously start all over with being a freshman.

  2. wow i would <3 to visit another country. you enter junior high when you r around 12 or 13 that age group is in the 7th  grade and then its like 13-14 in the 8th grade 14-15-16 in the 9th grade (freshman year your a high schooler but sometimes schools go from 7-9th grade so you stay a the school) out here in California its 7-9th grade and when you go to 10th grade (sophomore)-senior(13) you graduate

teen pregnacy rate is very high and rising here in America.  for example they say that hispanics latinas are getting pregnant early because when we turn 15 we are a woman (im latina so i know) and you are able to be mature and responsible for your actions. im 15 and i got pregnant by my bestfriend i knew him since  i was 2 and he was 4. so yea i had a babygirl 6mnths ago and i love it my boyfriend is still around...and hes a great father. sometimes its hard though because she wont stop crying because shes either hungry or she needs changed... its hard. i dont have a STD.

and i definetly think you should wait until your married because you know you dont have to worry about who your sleeping with and who theyve been sleeping with etc....

yeah anyways hope i helped you understand! look at my profile and answwer my question i just asked a few minutes ago!!!

  3. Kidergarten = 5-6

    1st= 6-7

    and so on...

    Freshman (9th) is 14-15

    Sophmore (10th) is 15-16

    Junior (11th) is 16-17

    Senior (12th) is 17-18

If you go to four year college then the four years are F-S-J-S just liek high school and you would be done at about 22.

  4. actually your a year off. for example

    7th is 12- 13

    8th is 13- 14

    etc...

  5. Grade school/primary/elementary

    Pre-k: 4-5

    Kindergarten: 5-6

    1st grade: 6-7

    2nd: 7-8

    3rd: 8-9

    4th: 9-10

    5th: 10-11

    Middle school

    6th: 11-12

    7th: 12-13

    8th: 13-14

    High school

    9th: 14-15 (freshman)[me.!]

    10th: 15-16 (sophomore)

    11th: 16-17 (Junior)

    12th: 17-18 (senior)

  6. Um, it's not always like that.

Some people start school late, some start school early.

  7. Everyone said it already that you start school at about 5 years old and that is kindergarten

Kindergarten- 5th grade your in elementary school and in 5th grade your 10-11 years old and then you go to

Middle schoo which is 6th grade-8th grade and thats when your about 11-14

and then you go to High School and thats 9th grade-12 grade and thats when your 1about 14-18. And when you graduate high school its your option to go to college/university and normally you would go to a 4 year university and you would finish around 22 and you can choose to go on to graduate school and so on...for more professional jobs.

And the alcohal age limits i think should be 18 becuase thats what they used to be and now there 21, and so many kids are getting caught drinking underage and no matter what the law says there going to keep doing it so i think they should just make it legal, but at the same time that could be dangerous, so i really dont know. I guess where its at is good. And the teen pregnancy is getting higher and higher and i dont think you need to wait until marriage to have s*x but 16 is too young i think, just because of pregnancy, but having s*x i dont think is terrible but to have a child i think you need to wait until your old enough to take care of yourself and a family and have an education and job and are in a stable relationship i think. Thats my opinion. hope i helped :)

Yes we can drive when we turn 16 but we have to wait to drink until we are 21 which is fine but everyone drinks anyway. i mean i do and i know everyone else in america does before there 21.

yes its true that 1 in 4 american girls have a std. (i dont) in america after you leave high school your most likley not a virgin. im a junior (16 years old) and i know that probley everyone in my grade has had s*x. its just a thing you do i guess. in america its considered embarassing to go to collage and be a virgin.

  10. I live in England now sooo I understand what you are asking...

    In the states it goes

    Kindergarden 4-5-6 years old

    1st grade 5-6

    2nd grade 6-7

    3rd grade 7-8

    4th grade 8-9

    5th grade 9-10

    Middle school

    6th grade 10-11

    7th grade 11-12

    8th grade 12-13

    high school

    9th grade freshman year 13-14

    10th grade sophmore year 14-15

    11th grade junior year 15-16

    12 grade senior year 16-17

    then college

yes you have your permit at 16

you can drive without a parent when you get your license normally at 17...

you can drink at 21 here where as in the UK it's 18

18 is when you are considered an adult so pregnancy is not a good idea until you are ready to financially support a child...always start with a pet and work your way up! :o) hope that helps!
