My sons 6 months old, and when he was born we bought a motion monitor, it sounds an alarm when my son is completely still for 20 seconds, so if he quits breathing the alarm goes off... now that hes rolling all over the crib it seems to go off all the time, but I've become dependent on it... I cant sleep if it's turned off... but it wakes all of us up, including my son when the alarm goes off, so at 6 months do you think its safe to just not use it anymore? Do the risks of SIDS decrease at 6 months?

  1. if it wakes everyone in the family up, then it is not worth it.

He is past the major SIDS risk

  2. I have one of these monitors and I know what you mean about being dependent on it.  If I remember correctly, there's a way to increase the sensitivity.

  3. you can put it away now, as long as you have some sort of moniter to hear him cry in the middle of the night. yes sids decreases almost to nothing after 6 months of age...that is such a scarey thing to think of.

  4. adjust the sensitivity on the back of the moniter.....if its the bebe sounds angelcare moniter you should be able to adjust...good luck
