Can I just stop taking 'the pill'?

I have been on the pill for about 15 years solid. I changed to a "no period" version about a year ago. For about a year I have no libido....none; before this I was normal in s*x drive. I was considering stopping the pill to see if this is the reason. I am not currently sexually active. I am nervious to just stop. Can I just stop? and what should I expect (biologically)- I have not had a real period since I was a young teen.

  1. Finish the pills for your current cycle then stop.  It will take a while for your body to get used to not having the additional hormones (anywhere from 3 months to a year).  Your periods will be irregular and the bleeding will be anything from light to heavy in any given month.  It may be helpful to have a calendar specifically to track how your body changes:  record bleeding (light/heavy), discharge from your v****a (this is normal during the 7th to 11th day of your menstrual cycle--Day 1 being the first day of your period), how you feel (fantastic/okay/bloated) etc.  This chart will be useful if you ever have to discuss what's going on with a doctor.  Remember, normal for you isn't necessarily the same as anyone else.

If you become sexually active, keep in mind that you could become pregnant--it depends on how quickly your body returns to what is normal for you without pills.

  2. It would probably be better to finish a pack instead of just stopping randomly. I suggest calling your Gyno though.
