Question:

Can I learn MMA style fighting?

I'm a 17 year old girl and I would like to get into fight training. I'm only 110 lbs but I'm five foot nine. I have no experience with martial arts or competitive sports. I do respond well to exercise (my body adapts really quicky). Is it possible for me to start MMA training and become competitive. I have always wanted to get into competitive fighting. Is this a realistic goal. Also, any tips on how to do this (other than joining a gym which I already plan to do.)

  1. You definitely can. However, I would start with a good trainer at a reputable school, because there is really a lot to learn before you start fighting/wrestling (especially competitive). For example, you need to learn how to fall on a hard floor without getting hurt.

  2. Well there is no such thing as mma style fighting but there are different styles of martial arts that are very affective in mma such as boxing, muay thai, wrestling, an Brazilian jiu jitsu. An of course you can do it get in shape an join any one of those martial arts i mentioned there are many gyms that call them selves mma gyms but all they do is teach different styles so if possible join a gym like that.

  3. You need to find a kick boxing gym or something like and talk to them and train with them.

  4. It all depends on your personal aptitude and dedication!
