I truly doubt that you can and even if you could I would absolutely recommend that you still use a lawyer. Adopting a child is not a casual thing, to say the least, and you want the whole thing to be as legally secure as possible under all circumstances. There is no reason to avoid using a lawyer and many reasons to use one. If you want to save money, I would advise you to still use a lawyer no matter what.

You can't legally adopt a child in Georgia without an attorney.  You must go through the entire adoption process, which involves an attorney and judge.  The attorney must file a petition for adoption.

It's a bad idea to not use a lawyer.  If you don't, you can end up with an adoption nightmare... like birth parents coming back later and taking the child away from you.   There are just too many possible nightmares that can happen if you don't have a lawyer draw up the papers.

i doubt it. adoption is a beautiful thing, but its also a legal process. i wouldn't want to go through such a big process without someone who knows what they are doing representing me along the way.

Without a lawyer I don't think you can, nor would I think you'd want to.  There are too many issues that need to be settled and best to have an adoption lawyer to help with all the legal issues that may come up.  Good luck.
