Can I legally and safely change seats from bucket to bench?

I am looking for a used suburban and many of the models have "quad" seating 2 front bucket seats 2 middle bucket seats and a bench. I am looking for 2 benches (total 8 seating) people have suggested buying the quad and changing the seats. Is this safe/legal?

Yes as long as the replacement seats fit into the same holes as well as the seat-belts you will have no problems..
