My Parents are traveling to Mexico by car. My car is alot better than the one they have and more fuel efficient so I would prefer they take my car. The car is under my name and my husbands name.

  1. I'm not 100% sure but if you and your husband wrote them a notarized letter saying they had permission to take your car that should be enough.  Just be sure to let them have the title and registration.  To be sure go to your nearest Mexican Consulate.

  2. According to the sight below, no.

"The valid vehicle registration certificate, or a document, such as the original title that certifies the legal ownership of the vehicle. It must be in the driver's name."

Now, I don't know if that is 100% true because I had heard that if you lease a car and want to drive it to Mexico you can do so as long as you have a letter from the owner that gives you permission. So if that's the case then perhaps the same would apply for a borrowed vehicle.

Of course the rules in Mexico don't always make sense so I would think that until you learn otherwise I would assume the answer is no.

On the bright side, gas in Mexico is a lot cheaper.

  3. yeah i guess so
