I am very scared of flying, especially the take off, and I think if I listen to music during the take off it might help me to relax. Is that even a possibility?

  1. nope not for about 10 minutes

  2. well i think the plane will overlap the music on your ipod.  although if it will help you calm down somemore, then yes... you can do that!!!  Good Luck

  3. Once you get to the airport and park your car, the most dangerous part of your journey is over, so don't be scared.

Once the plane reaches an altitude of 10,000 feet, they will tell you that you can now use electronic devices.  When you are landing, they will make you turn it off again once you are about to descend below 10,000 feet.

However, depending on the size of the airplane and where your seat is, and how good your hearing is, you may or may not be able to hear your iPod well.  For instance, I was on a 50-seater, in a window seat, a few rows in front of the engine, and was listening to a new music podcast, and had a hard time making out the words.  So bring a book/magazine as plan B.

  4. The electronics in devices such as mp3 players, mobile phones, laptops etc can interfere with the planes electrics, avionics and navigation equipment as the wires pass surprisingly close to you through the walls of the aircraft. Although the chances of this causing a problem are pretty remote, to minimise risk airlines request all electrical equipment to be turned off up to I believe about FL100 (10,000ft approx), as take-off and landing are the riskiest parts of a flight.

  5. You have to wait untill they tell you that it is safe to turn on electronic devices. But you don't need to be scared of flying, it's easy.

  6. Well usually during takeoff, they tell you to have all electronic devices, such as iPods, off, but once you're in the air, they allow you to use them. You'll be fine. Just chew some gum and think about something happy. It should only be about 5 minutes after takeoff that you can listen to music, so hang in there.
