Ipod yes you can.

Food to bring on the plane you have to buy after you go through security.  I usually stop at the store just after security and get snacks for the trip there.

Yes you are allowed to listen to your IPod on the plane. They will make you keep it turned off during takeoff and landing, in fact it is a good idea to bring it especially if it is a long flight. as far as the food goes you can bring food on the airplane but you have to buy it past the security checkpoint, otherwise they will discard it. You can buy food in the airport and bring it on the plane with you. On most flights they will give you a complimentary beverage, and on flights longer than 3 hours they have snacks for purchase

Once you reach 30,000 feet, you can not only use your iPod, but you can use any electronic device except for a cell phone, anything remote controlled, and TVs.

Food-wise, you can bring anything that fits in your one carry-on and one personal item, but no more than 3 ounces of liquid are allowed.

Yesterday I returned home from a week in New York, and I took peanuts, half of a loaf of homemade bread, some power-bar type things, and a couple of apples. Security doesn't care about food.
