Can I load songs purchased from iTunes on a cell phone other than an iphone?

I'm eligible for an upgrade on my AT&T service but don't want to get an iphone. There are many other phones with music players on them, but I have an ipod so most of my music already in itunes format. How can I tell whether a phone I'm buying will be compatible with itunes format songs? Is there an easy, cheap/free way to convert itunes song into a format that would be compatible? The AT&T website says one of the phones accepts the following formats: MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, EAAC+

Thanks in advance for any response!

  1. music files from itunes are drm-laden. in order to play them on mp3 players other than ipod and iphone, you need a special program to help strip off the protection and convert the itunes m4p, m4b, m4a music to mp3. i always use tuneclone. my friend introduced it to me. it automatically generates a virtual cd burner, with which the music files can be converted at very high speed.

you can learn more about it from:

    http://www.tuneclone.com

  2. recent phones can play mp3 format so no problem if your phone is a recent made one. for more info, check the manual of your phone as it is written there. probably, you cannot be able to connect your phone directly to the iTunes itself as it is not an iPhone. but there are ways to transfer it by transfering the songs in another folder out of iTunes and connect your phone onto the computer. check if your phone is compatible with the computer or doesn't need a CP software installation as some cellphones do need softwares to be installed first. aside from that USB cable. if your CP has a bluetooth or infra-red feature, then much better, just upload those songs thru that process. this is also possible if your PC has bluetooth or infra-red functions too.

  3. iTunes offer both DRM and DRM-free songs. The DRM free songs should be compatible with the phone, the DRM protected ones however cannot be copied to the phone without a bit of hacking (like burn them on a CD from iTunes so that you can then copy them back and encode them as DRM free MP3)

  4. As I know iTunes downloaded music files (M4P) have DRM protection which prevent users from playing iTunes media with other incompatible players such as PSP, Zune, Creative Zen, and other mobile phone.

So, you need a DRM converter to convert the M4P to MP3 to put it on your phone:

Right click the file in iTunes and select "Show in Windows Explorer".

Free download this converter, drag and drop the protected files to it:

It can convert the DRM protected music (WMA,M4P) to any other formats and extract audios from DRM video (wmv, m4v, asf, etc).
