Can I machine wash a velvet throw blanket?

i have this wonderful velvet blanket that my dog has made a mess on, but an unsure of whether or not i can put it in the washer/dryer. ...i just don't want to ruin it, any advice would be great!

Wash your velour  blanket in cold water and mild soap on the  delicate cycle and hang to dry - or dry it in the cool cycle of your dryer - if you do not have a "delicate" setting on your dryer then hang it over your shower bar or on a  clothesline.
