I need to ship pairs of small earrings that measure 4x2.5x0.25 in. Can I just tuck it into a normal white envelope and mail it through USPS first class mail? If I can, do I just put on stamps and toss into a mail box or do I have to go to the postal office to mail it? If I can put on stamps, how many do I need? Each pair of earrings weight less than 2 ounces.

  1. Very, very bad idea to use an ordinary envelope to send earrings. Chances are very good that the envelope would slip through to the processing machinery and be torn open.

Invest in some small padded envelopes to protect the earrings and keep the package out of the letter processing machinery.

Minimum size is 3 1/2" x 5" for mailing. Cost would be $1.30 for up to 2 ounces.

DOn't use an ordinary letter envelope. I can't tell you how much junk accumulates from people mailing items in inappropriate containers. We send a container of this stuff to the Mail Recovery Center on a daily basis. Earrings, coins, ID badges. bottle tops, you name it and someone has tried to mail it in an ordinary letter envelope.
