Okay so I'm 14 years old, going into my freshman year at a highschool. I have played tennis off and on for several years, and nowadays that I play a lot I am noticing when I dedicate myself I improve rather quickly.

I'm going to tryout for the JV tennis team at my highschool next year, and I was going to ask how good do you think I need to be to make a JV team? For those of you that know "rating", I'd probably rate myself between a 3 and 3.5 currently, with hopes to be at least a solid 3.5 by the end of the summer. (I am exerting myself a lot now to get better).

A couple more details. I have the body type of a tennis player, tallish and skinny. I have been told my form is good, with everything pretty much. My serve is about avg speed and very consistent. My forehand I can comfortably aim down the line and cross-court with some pretty good speed. My backhand needs a little work, and my volleys are fine.

Thank you for all your future help! =), I hope i can make the team!

  1. As long a you keep going at the level u say u are, u can make it easy, I did!

  2. jv isn't anything special. it's to where the rest of the players are relegated that don't make varsity. but every school is different. maybe they only allow a certain number to be jv. if your school is so huge and they have so many talented players that you don't even make jv, you would probably be on 2nd tier jv or something.

i wouldn't worry about it. you sound good enough
