  1. Sure! you can do. In my first trip to Italy I'll do it. Is around 1 1/2 hour train trip.  The leaning tower is at walking distance from the train station. Over there is not much to see.

  2. Yes you can do it in one day. Pisa has not too many things to see but you cannot visit Italy without seeing Pisa's Leaning Tower and the Miracles' Field.

A direct train from ROMA TERMINI to PISA leaves at 07.35 am and arrives at 10:57 am (no train change). Cost is € 37,00 in first class and € 28,50 in second class.

Pisa's station is not too distant from the highlights to visit and you'll be wonderful on time to hop on the train for the return.

The best return's option is at 17.00 from Pisa and arrival to Roma Termini at 20:14 (still direct train- no changes)

Cost is € 36,00 in first class and € 27,50 in second class. Reservation is mandatory . You can buy tickets on line by registering at this site http://www.trenitalia.it/en/index.html

  3. yes u can do rome to pisa and back in a day.  The train you get goes from Termini to Florence and you catch a train from there to Pisa.  Then there's a bus at the Pisa station that drops you in front of the Leaning Tower area.

If you start early, you'll be able to even run around Florence for some lunch and then go to Pisa.  When I did it, unfortunately my first train from Rome to Florence got held up on the tracks and it turned what was supposed to be a 2 hour ride into like 4 I think, so I was a bit rushed to say the least.  But I had enough layover in Florence to go see David, and gawk at the Duomo.  And with the train from Firenze to Pisa I had about 1 1/2 hours to look at the Tower.  Then I caught the last train back to Rome.

I think it was around 40 euro for the whole trip for train fare.

  4. you can.

train each way starts at 27.5 Euro; it can be more for express trains or first class (express trains can be worth it if you really can only do a daytrip), of 13-33 Euro (depending on class and type of express).

I've done Rome-Florence trains (a similar distance) and it took about 2 hours each way, if I recall right.

  5. You could, but it's probably not worth it.  Spend the night in Pisa at a hostel.
