Sure, I did the same thing with my turtle. I found some rocks outside and used those for a basking area. Just as log as you clean the rock with water and make sure the plastic tub is big enough and that the gecko can't get out then you should be fine. Good Luck with all that!

you need to disinfect anything that the gecko is going to be using. bake all out door wood at 200 degrees for two hours. this will kill any parasites that might be in the wood.
