I'm a 16 years old with no real responsibilities as far as taxes are concerned. I, of-course do not have children to support, and I live with my parents who pays all the bills. But I would like to get a job to help pay for my braces, which costs like 5K, under one circumstance. And that is, if taxes are deducted from my paycheck, I'll be left with over a thousand each month. Looking at my lack of responsibilities and assuming Ill be working full time or 6 days per week and 8 hours per day for about $8.50 per hour, is it possible?

  1. Yeah! the best job for the summer would be a lifeguard and get certified You get to be outside and get paid.  Or just look around and go to local places.  You could also try being a  waiter because you can get tips. I hope i helped :]

  2. 48 hours per week at $8.50 an hour would bring in a gross pay of $442 a week. which would leave you well over $1000 a month after taxes.  But once school starts back up, that's way too many hours to be working.  I assume you ARE planning to go back to school.

  3. No.  As a 16 year old you cannot work 48 hours a week.  Companies keep it below 30 hrs a week so they can avoid paying benefits.  Taxes, federal, state, local, medicare and social security plus whatever your locality levees will be deducted from your check.  So clearing 1k a month is impossible.

  4. Working 48 hours a week is not realistic and probably not possible.

If you have a job for 30 hours a week, I assume over the summer months, you would make about $4,000.  At this level of income, you will pay zero income taxes.

If you do not anticipate making more than $5,450 for the year, you can put "exempt" on your tax withholding document and have no income taxes withheld.  You would pay 7.65% Social Security and Medicare taxes (and perhaps some local taxes and unemployment).  Your withholding should be less than 10% of your pay.

See if your dentist will work out a payment plan that meets your ability to pay.  Most dentists will accept payment over time.

  5. yeah u should make over a grand a month.

    $8.50/perhr*8hrs*6days a week * 4 weeks a month = $1632.

most likely they'll only take 30-35%max out of ur check. that would leave u with $1142-$1060 a month after taxes.

and u should get all your federal and state taxes back in a tax refund the next year
