Can I make papercraft without cardstock paper?

Question

I can't find cardstock paper anywhere and I tried to use normal printing paper to do it, can my model still look ok? If possible, I also think that I should try to glue 2 or more paper together, will my method work?

Target, Wall, Micheal's, JoAnn's,  all carry card stock. You need paper that is a heavy weight so the model can stand by itself. All office supply stores carry heavy weight paper. Like Office Max.
