Can I mix Campbell Soup with my Eagle Pack kibble?

I'm trying to get my Great dane puppy to gain some weight. Would it be alright to add some Campbell soup (Beef Consome with Veggies, or chicken noodle soup) to my puppy's kibble to make it tastier? I know they're supposed to be lean puppies but her ribs showing, since she just got worms. She also didn't react well to Science Diet Canned Beef (that's the best canned dog food i can find in the Philippines). Any suggestions on what I can add to her food?

  1. I wouldn't see any problem with it.  If she likes it, then more power to you.  You might want to remove the onions from the Beef Consomme with Veggies, if it has any.  Onions are really bad for dogs.

Another thing you can do is buy some packets of gravy mix (if you can find it in any shops near you), mix up a packet, and pour it over your dog's kibble.

Last year when all the canned dog food was being recalled in the States, I had some homemade beef stew up in the freezer that I fed my dog along with his dry food.  He loved it.  It had stew beef, potatoes, carrots (which he didn't like), peas, and I used cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, beef broth, and a packet of onion soup mix.  I cooked it all down in the crock pot (slow cooker), froze it in single-serving portions, and intended to eat it during the winter, but never did.  I gave it to the dog because I couldn't afford anything else, and I was getting ready to move in a month anyway.  It was perfect.

If you cook any meat, mainly bacon or sausage, save the grease.  You can store it in a airtight metal container, like an old coffee can.  When you feed you dog, add a tablespoon or two of the grease from the meat to her kibble.

  2. No, regular soup has way too much salt. Try adding some ground beef.Dog's are natural meat eaters.

  3. No. Canned soup is full of salt and preservatives. It counteracts feeding your dog a high-quality food if you're going to put a bunch of junk on top of it.

Since you're already feeding Eagle Pack dry food, why not just use Eagle Pack canned food if you want to add something to his food?

Also, I'm not a giant breed expert by any means, but I believe you *don't* want them to grow too fast because it can mess up their joints and such.

    .

  4. Rice (cooked of course)

It should help the dog gain weight and it's not bad for the dog.

  5. My mom used to give her dogs beef veggie soup until she talked to her vet. There is a lot of salt in it, even if you rinse it off.

The best thing for your dog is rice and chicken. Boil a chicken beast and chunk it up with some rice. You dog will love it, it's easy on dogs' tummies, and all natural!

  6. Check the ingredients on the soup can. I think there is a LOT of salt (sodium) in Campbells soup. Look for a good beef or chicken stock in a can. Check for salt or sodium there, too, but if it's not a lot, it would flavor the dog food to entice your dog to eat more.

  7. Hi! :)

Are you feeding a large breed puppy formula?  Why not try high quality canned food like Merrick or Wellness (if you look them up on the internet they may beable to ship them) mixed with the kibble.  Also since you feed Eagle Pack, how about their holistic canned food?  Is your puppy wormed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm prevention, (nothing medically wrong) etc.  Campbell's Soup has a lot of sodium in it.  A little cottage cheese is also a good thing to ad.  You can make homemade things like satin balls to.  http://www.holisticdog.org/Nutrition/Sat...

  8. Hope shes dewormed know right?  If you can get it try Sci diet A/D they only sell it in a vet office.  But its a high calorie, appetie stimulating food.  95% of dogs will eat it unless they are really sick.  Good luck.  I would not feed people food, its just not a good idea.
