Hi all

I have a pink and grey gallah(male) who is about 9 months old - he is tame and is starting to talk and lives in a big cage outside my window. I would really love to get either another pink and grey (female) or a short billed corrella. Now my problem - two different bird places have told me two different things. The first said yes you can mix a new bird with your gallah it wont affect his ability to learn to talk or his interest in you, then the other place said no never put them together because the gallah will be too interested in the new bird to learn to talk and come to you etc.

Anyone have any advice???

  1. From what I've learned it really depends on the individual bird. Some bond to the other bird and refuse to have anything to do with their human, some remain bonded to their human and refuse to have anything to do with the other bird, and some are in-between, being bonded to the other bird but still appreciating their human's company. The former situation does seem to be the more common, however.

  2. if your bond is strong he will still like you and he will still be interested in you and learning to talk.

  3. Oh my God........!! Give your baby Gallah a break.......!!

  4. I used to raise parrots and from my experience once a bird had a mate it no longer needs you, so you need to decide whether you want a pet or to breed
