check it!! I have a 97 larson with a 5.7 Mercruiser motor in it.. I need to add some power steering fluid to it but dont know what kind is already in it.. I bought some Quicksilver powersteering/trim fluid.. Is it ok to just add it to the existing fluid???? on the bottle of the fluid i just bought says safe to use where you would use ATF, whatever that means I dont know... also that is the power steering pump that's mounted to the front of the motor right??? I don't want to add it and mess everything up....

  1. ATF  THATS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID JUST TO LET YOU KNOW

THE QUICK SILVER FLUID YOU HAVE IS FOR A HYDROLIC SYSTEM I DONT KNOW IF IT WOULD BE GOOD  WHAT YOU WANT IS THE SAME STUFF YOU PUT IN YOUR CAR CAUSE YOU HAVE A CAR ENGINE BASICALLY  SO I WOULD GO TO A AUTO STORE AND GET POWER STERRING FLUID  DEXRON OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT  GOOD QUESTION

HYDROLIC STEERING THE PUMP IS MOUNTED DIRECTLY TO THE STEERING ASSEMBLE

  2. Is it the original fluid?  This probably isn't good advice, but I toped mine off with what ever I could find at wallmart and it worked fine for years..

  3. Yep, that'll be your P/S pump, and yep again, that's the correct fluid.  Just a thought, why are you adding fluid?  Is your resevoir low? Where did the missing fluid go to, as this is a contained system?  Have a look for leaks.
