I own 15 rats, 4 rats are in cages by themselves. Am I able to combine different breeds, different litters, and different ages (same s*x) of rats without them killing each other? I rescued 1 from local pet store. She was being abused by the other rats there. I do let my rats have monitored visitation together but never unsupervised. One of my other rats cant stand being around other rats. She loves the dog and the guinea pig but goes nuts when she smells other rats.

  1. yes you can i did thye worked out fine to me but the first thing you should do is hold them together and wath they and see if they like eah other if they dont dont put they together

  2. I would so no. because i had 2 rats once they were both females and killed each other cause they were from different litters

  3. Yes. If you introduce them first. Breeds of rat are like breeds of dog, and you certainly can keep two different dog breeds in the same house.

  4. Well, there are different coats, colors, etc........but they're all the same ''breed''.

You can introduce them in a neutral territory, but you obviously cannot just toss them into a cage together and expect them to get along.

You don't want to put a full grown rat with ''just weaned'' baby rats, as even in play, they can cause serious injuries or even death. I would wait until the babies get a little bigger.

  5. umm i dont think you can mix different types of rats
