Can I mix two different finishes of polyurethane together?

I have two quarts of satin finish oil based poly and a half gallon of semi gloss. Can these be mixed together before application? If so how much mixing is necessary?

yes you can. they are both ureathane and both oil base. no problem whatsoever.

Why would you even both to try this?  You will only save a few bucks.  Call the manufacturer.

If all are oil and same brand, yes.  If all are waterbased and same brand, yes.  If anything else, count on problems.  It is the case that even though they are all oil or latex and same brand, you still could have a problem.  TEST a small area first, like a scrap piece of wood or the inside of a door, etc.  Use at your own discretion.
