Can I mod my PAL xbox 360 game to play on an NTSC xbox360, or my NTSC xbox360 to play PAL discs?

Question

I have preordered Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and it is waiting for pickup at my local ebgames. however, my 360 had a hardware failure a few days before. also i am moving to America in 2 months. i dont know if i should sell my game, or mod it so it can work on the 360 over there. So, i just want to know if i can make my disc play on the new xbox or make my new xbox play region free with a modchip or something. Thanks, Emm1T.
