  1. You must not open the hard drive itself as you will probably ruin it. What i do is regularly take off my access panel and vacuum inside with a brush attachment to get rid of the dust. Be very careful and make sure you don't dislodge any cables or connectors.

  2. Hello,

(ANS) No! No! No! You MUST NEVER EVER attempt to open your machines hard disk drive as you will instant ruin it totally forever. A hard disk drive is a sealed unit which contains a vacuum and once this vacuum is broken so is the drive itself.

NOTE:- DON'T confuse opening the computers base unit or system unit with opening the hard disk drive unit. YES! you can safely open the computers base unit if you know what your doing. Yes! dust & muck can be cleaned out but this needs to be done with great care otherwise you could potentially damage your machine. Unless you know what your doing LEAVE WELL ALONE!! is my sincere advise.

    Kind Regards Ivan.

  3. Well you can open up the harddrive but thats gona s***w things up. Its usually sealed and no way for dust to get into it. The only time you would open up a hard drive is when its dead and you wana recover your million dollar work.

Simple answer no you can not open it up.You could open up your pc and clean the heatsink if you really wana do something.

  4. You can open the PC case its designed to be accessible for upgrades and maintenance but the hard drives are not to be opened by any means they are made in a dust and static free environment if you get one open i can guarantee that it will not work again

if you are on about opening a PC case then just look for any screws at the back of the case that should loosen the side panels which just slot off you should then be able to have access the the whole of the inside of the computer which would be easy to clean dust off just try not to use anything statically charged as it can damage the componets PCs don't like static charge

  5. I think you are actually talking about the computer tower itself. The side of your PC can be taken off normally with a couple of screws. Then you can use a cloth to remove the dust from the fans.

Make sure you use an anti-static wrist strap otherwise you risk causing damage to your electrical components.

And for future reference a hard drive is a component inside a computer which stores all of your files. It does not need cleaning...ever. If you were to open it, you would brake it...instantly!

  6. many users get confused...a hard drive is a small metal storage unit inside your pc...you mean the tower/computer its self...you can use an air line/compressor or u can buy a spray can full of compressed air...use one of them...DONT HOVER OUT,static will kill the pc...blow out the cpu fan and also the psu[the bit the main power plug goes into...regardless how clean your House is it will always be full of dust...many smell of anti-persperant/talcum powder...

  7. NO! And that's a big no... Lol

Hard drives are sealed in Laboratory type environments and does not need cleaning inside.

Actually it does not WANT cleaning inside.

Hope this warning reached you in time.

    Regards

  8. The hard drive is a dust free environment inside lol. Never open it unless you want to ruin it.

The PC case however, yeah it collects dust.
