Question:

Can I own real estate with my wife on SSI?

My wife just got approved for SSI. She has been trying for years due to intestinal disease. Our neighbor has 30 acres for sale that he wants me to have, and we want it bad. We can afford it just fine, but I was reading that you can't have real estate/assets over 3k. What are some options? He has also offered to do owner finance, does that exclude it from the rule?

  1. You might form an LLC or S corporation to hold the property for your use.

  2. check around

    usually a home is excluded

  3. If your wife is getting SSI Disability, not just SSI she can own property call 1-800-772-1213 and ask general question not  about your wife. If the owner finance it, you will be excluded from the rule but, Own your own dream, you deserve it.
